Position: Fourth Grade Multi-Subject Teacher
Location: 9th and Maryland Ave, NE Washington, DC 20002
Type: Part-Time (15 hours onsite per week, teacher's days/hours are TU, TH, F 8:30am-1:30pm)
Salary: $23,500-$25,500 annually (depending on education and experience)
About CHLG:
Capitol Hill Learning Group (CHLG) is a Christ-centered micro-school that employs the University-Model® approach, combining classroom-based and home-based education. Our Lower School classes offer intimate settings with no more than 12 students per class. We prioritize a close-knit community where teachers are valued for their leadership, knowledge, and the integral role they play in student development.
Responsibilities:
- Plan and lead all Fourth Grade core subjects, including language arts, math, science, and history.
- Integrate the biblical worldview into daily programming.
- Demonstrate excellent classroom management skills.
- Prepare students academically to enter our Middle School program.
- Collaborate with parents and other teachers.
- Commit to a part-time teaching schedule of 15 hours on site per week, spread across three days (T-TH-F), with additional outside planning time as necessary.
- Ensure adherence to the school calendar, with a start date beginning August 20th and a commitment through at least June 12, 2025.
- Maintain open communication with students, parents, and administration.
Requirements:
- Committed Christian with the ability to integrate the biblical worldview into daily programming.
- Minimum of a bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, or Special Education. A candidate with a Liberal Arts degree who also holds a Multiple Subject Teaching Credential or a candidate with a related degree who has appropriate teaching experience would also be considered.
- Preferred: Classroom teaching experience.
- Dynamic, organized, and knowledgeable in educating young children.
- Ability to work closely with parents and colleagues to support our unique schooling model.
