ABOUT CHLG
Capitol Hill Learning Group (CHLG) is a University-Model®  micro-school (we are currently in the process of certification with UMSI).  CHLG is faith-based in the Evangelical Christian tradition with an aim to teach and guide students through the lens of a Biblical worldview.  We began in 2006 and have since grown through high school (we are planning for 9th and 10th next school year and a fully built out high school program by the fall of 2023, Lord willing).

University-Model® schooling combines the best attributes of traditional schooling with the best attributes of homeschooling and integrates them into one model. The result is a quality, cost-effective, college-preparatory education that utilizes one of the strongest indicators for long term academic success, parent involvement.  Even more valuable
than the academic benefits, however, is the fact that the model provides parents with more time to impart their own faith and values to their children.

Micro-schools are defined as small schools of less than 150 students with small class sizes and a reduced in-classroom schedule.  We are a small, tight knit learning community with a strong home and school connection.  Current research in education and cognitive psychology shows that learning is more effective and longer lasting if a person is in a setting that feels safe, calm and connected to other people.  CHLG can deliver this kind of environment because of the small size (both the small size of the school as a whole and of the individual classes) and because of the comfort level that is a by product of students and staff who know each other well.

We are thankful for the opportunity to provide unique, Christ-centered educational programs that meet the needs of many families in our community, and specifically want to thank Washington Community Fellowship for entrusting us with their beautiful annex space at 9th and Maryland Avenue.   Please peruse the rest of our website for more information about our various programs and the application process.

Warmly,
Martha Herndon
Head of School
