Middle School Science Teacher (Part-Time)

PLEASE NOTE: Due to the fact that CHLG is a micro-school, our teaching positions are all part-time.  ​​

​Position:  Middle School Science Teacher
Location: 9th and Maryland Ave, NE  Washington, DC  20002
Type:  Part-Time 
(12 hours onsite per week, teacher's days/hours are TH & F  8:30am-2:30pm)
Salary: $16,500-$18,500 annually (depending on education and experience)

About CHLG:
Capitol Hill Learning Group (CHLG) is a Christ-centered micro-school that employs the University-Model® approach, combining classroom-based and home-based education. Our Middle School classes offer intimate settings with no more than 14 students per class. We prioritize a close-knit community where teachers are valued for their leadership, knowledge, and the integral role they play in student development. 

Responsibilities:
  • Plan and lead four classes (two sections) of middle school science.
  • Integrate the biblical worldview into daily programming.
  • Demonstrate excellent classroom management skills.
  • Collaborate with parents and other teachers.
  • Commit to a part-time teaching schedule of 12 hours on site per week, spread across two days (TH & F), with additional outside planning time as necessary.
  • ​Ensure adherence to the school calendar, with a start date beginning August 20th and a commitment through at least June 12, 2025.
  • Maintain open communication with students, parents, and administration.

Requirements:
  • Committed Christian with the ability to integrate the biblical worldview into daily programming. 
  • Minimum of a bachelor's degree in Secondary Science Education or a related field such as Biology, Chemistry, Nursing, etc.
  • Preferred: Classroom teaching experience.
  • Dynamic, organized, and knowledgeable in educating tweens and teens.
  • Ability to work closely with parents and colleagues to support our unique schooling model.
