Skills taught include solfege, intonation, beat concept and rhythm recognition/execution. Students are also provided with musical and theatrical performance opportunities. Art Children K-8th engage in regular picture studies (lessons in learning to observe and appreciate art) as well as various art projects throughout the school year. Additionally, families have the option to participate in regular docent led tours at the National Gallery of Art as scheduled by CHLG's curriculum coordinator, and/or a weekly after school art class provided onsite at CHLG for an additional fee. |

Lower School (K-4th) * Unit Studies - Various Texts (Kindergarten) *Apologia Science: Exploring Creation Series (1st-4th) Astronomy Botany Land Animals of the 6th Day Swimming Creatures of the 5th Day *NOTE: We complete one title each year, and all 1st-4th work with the same text. This allows parents of multiple lower school students the opportunity to work with some of their children on the same basic science information, though expectations for engagement with the material differs depending on the grade level of the child. Middle School (5th-8th) Apologia Human Anatomy Apologia Intro to Chemistry and Physics Apologia General Science Apologia Physical Science History and Geography Unit Studies in Social Studies: Various Texts (Kindergarten) Classical Acts and Facts History Cards (1st - 3rd) *Story of The World Volumes 1-3 (1st - 3rd) Ancient Times The Middle Ages Early Modern Times America's Story: Volumes 2 and 3 / States & Capitols (4th) *NOTE: For 1st-3rd grades we complete one title each year of Story of the World for all three grades.
